"MID SEMESTER BREAK"

Week 6 until week 9 (21 Oct - 15Nov 2013)

Title           : Report Progress
Objective   : Proposal report
Content     : Next, from 21 October until 1 November (week 6 and 7) I describe the scope and limitation of the cable. All the information gets from the Electrical System in Building (ESB) book.. The complete section is compiling with the section 1 (introduction). I brief about the history and abstract of the project. Section 2(literature review, I brief about the previous approaches of electrical network design and present approaches which is using MATLAB application. Section 3(methodology), it’s all about the method that I used (MATLAB, GUI). I need to finish all the section of report completed by week 13. I need to prepare for the presentation day for FYP 1 on 22 November 2013.

PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED

During the research for the project, the problem that encounter is they are too many method or stage that are need to apply while doing the electrical network design. I have to select the best one as a revision. And there has many types of cable that are use and I need to look up one by one. 

CONCLUSION

My research project is on schedule and I should finish by week 13.

Week 1 (9 Sept - 13 Sept 2013)

Title           :  Supervisor selection
Objective   :  Find the advisor for Final Year Project 1
Content     :  On week 1,  find the supervisor for my Final year project 1.
12 September 2013 on Thursday, have a 1st briefing for FYP 1 degree. Briefing talk about the progress that student must follow. Such as the report proposal and update progress using logbook or blog.    

Week 2 (16 Sept - 20 Sept 2013)

Title           : Project discussion
Objective   :  Select the project
Content     : Having a discussion with my supervisor, Miss Norhafiza Binti Mohamad. Miss Norhafiza brief a little about the project. I need to choose the project that she gives or other project that I have in mind. I choose the project that my supervisor gives. The project is using Mat Lab. The title is "Development of Interactive Electrical Network Design (Cable) using Mat Lab”.

Week 3 until Week 5(23 Sept – 11 Oct 2013)

Title            : Report Progress
Objective    : Proposal report (introduction).
Content      : The project completely using software. Based on the title “Development of Interactive Electrical Network Design (Cable) using Mat Lab”, we know the important of the project is CABLE. User will communicate with this user-friendly GUI (graphical user interface) which is a user interface that allows users to interact with electronic devise through graphical icons.

The purpose of this project is to know the protection, advantage and disadvantage of cable that we all use in daily life. During this period I finished the first section of the report which is discuss the objective and what proposed of the project. This section also provides knowledge and understanding about the characteristic of cable sizing. On this section, I also connect the reality and this project. The problem or the accident that occurred in reality is closely related to my project. I also explain the main focuses of protection cable are against the problem or situation that can damage the cable easily without warning (voltage drop, overload and short circuit). In other word, this project is a basic knowledge and the system that I use is easy to user to choose the proper cable size.
